Hi there and thanks for stopping by and visiting makefoodgofurther.com !

I’d like to tell you a little about how this site came about.

When?

Several years ago, we moved from a little country town in New South Wales to a seaside village in Queensland. We had moved from a large property back into suburbia, and in the process we left our 2 eldest sons (twins) to fend for themselves as young adults.

Why?

Naturally we kept in close contact with the boys, and one of the things that kept coming up in the conversation was “what are you eating? – are you getting enough fresh home style meals?”  Of course the answer was “No mum, 2 minute noodles are my cheap go-to food….”

And I would cringe – you get the idea here?

So Make Food Go Further was born. I posted my favourites to share with them, complete with detailed instructions – thinking I was onto something for them.

Fast forward many posts later, and I realised that they really weren’t interested in my blog at that time, and I decided to keep it going for me – an easy go-to place to find that recipe that I could never find right when I needed it.

Over time, full time work got in the way, and my posts dwindled. I was tired, worn out and really not feeling even like eating let alone cooking!  A change in lifestyle was due, and so I left my full time job and now I’m focussing on a couple of sites and online shops which I’d like to see at least make a difference in someones life.

When it comes to food – I get bored.  When I say bored, I mean really, really bored – do we have to have that same dish again this week too? I find that when we are really busy, we get into a food rut – and the same old stuff just keeps getting put on the table.  A lot of the things I create, I think about them further down the track and I can’t for the life of me remember what I did, only that it was really good – so this is my little online recipe book too and I hope you can make it yours as well.

So, bon appetite – and welcome to my new site, Make Food Go Further.
